A Philanthropic Impact
B & B Creations exists to help support pet charity, primarily Harley’s Hope Foundation, but others as well. Since the launch of our core product, Colorado Kitty Pot Catnip, funds have been raised that have helped an additional 130 pets receive life-saving care through the charity’s programs. These cases were in addition to what the charity had budgeted for each year.
That may not sound like much, but Harley’s Hope Foundation’s programs are all cash outlay – assistance with the cost of major/emergency veterinary care, assistance with the cost of training, emergency foster care or boarding, and assistance with pet deposits. There are no surrender or adoption fees, because that’s not the charity’s mission – it is to help keep pets and their people together.
A recent example of two pets that benefited from B & B Creations’ corporate donations are Max and BeBe. These two small dogs lived with a family affected by domestic violence. Their person, whom we’ll call Mrs. X for her protection, fled her home in another state when her ex-husband refused to comply with an order of protection against him. She packed up her children and dogs and left with only the clothes on their backs. Because most shelters do not allow animals inside, Mrs. X, her 3 children and 2 dogs were living in the cab of her pickup truck. She sought help from the local shelter and was turned away. Mrs. X called and asked if Harley’s Hope Foundation could help and we did.
The dogs were taken into our emergency foster program allowing the family to move into transitional housing, where the children could stay while their mom worked at her new job and sought permanent housing. While in the charity’s care, both dogs required emergency veterinary treatment, resulting in hundreds of dollars worth of unbudgeted expenses. Knowing that B & B Creations planned to make third and fourth quarter donations from its net profits, allowed the Harley’s Hope Foundation to provide care to these two pups without impacting the organization’s ability to continue helping others.
Beyond the positive financial impact these donations have on the charity, lies the emotional impact to the humans involved in these cases. Knowing help is available when they need it, knowing they won’t have to euthanize their beloved pets or service animals due to financial constraints, is immeasurable. But these donations hinge on healthy profits, so kudos to the retailers who carry B & B Creations products. You are literally helping us save lives.
